Starting a small-capital wholesale business: calculate initial stock

Small capital does not mean buying the cheapest products. The first goal is a measurable inventory cycle: know your purchase price, pairs, shipping cost, and shelf price before money leaves your account.

Set a stock budget and keep a reserve

Separate stock funds from shipping, packing, and other store needs. Do not spend the full budget on goods, because even good inventory needs money to reach the shelf.

Calculate from actual catalog prices

Use the visible per-pair catalog price, multiply it by the series quantity, then add shipping to your city. Compare the result with a realistic shelf price for your customers, not another store’s internet price.

Choose a few models, then review

Start with models that fit your store segment. Record fast-moving models and sizes left behind; the next purchase should follow those notes rather than guesses.
